Marie Maltais views Saint John artist Suzanne Hill's artwork Markers, part of her new exhibit High Water Mark that opened on Friday at the UNB Arts Centre in Fredericton.  The exhibit consists of four sections, each presenting the high water mark as paralleling or reflective of an aspect of the human condition.  The UNB Art Centre is located at Memorial Hall on the UNB Campus and is open Monday - Friday, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Admission is free.

A woman carries a bird cage covered with a blanket for protection out of an apartment on Carmarthen Street after a pot on the stove caught fire and filled the apartment with smoke on Wednesday evening.  Firefighters arrived and quickly put out the small fire and set up fans to remove the smoke, and officials on scene commended the occupant for quickly covering the pot that was on fire and leaving the apartment.
